I love that Emily doesn’t tell me what to do. Rather, she guides me to find the answers within myself. As a result of working with her, I have found a total shift in my thinking and actions. I have realized the difference between arrogance and confidence, and as a result, have stepped into my role as a business owner.
My session with Emily is the highlight of my week! I feel that she truly cares about me and my business. I am so grateful!
Salt Food Limited
Once I started working with Emily I was motivated, inspired to start my business, and given tools to enable this to happen. She held my hand the entire time. She is relatable and completely calm with absolute attention to detail. I received admin support, had an experienced food professional guiding me, and had clear goals and endpoints.
I DEFINITELY recommend working with her! Emily is amazing at what she does!

Khaya’s Kitchen
Emily is great at what she does and has a way of asking you questions about things you already instead of giving you the answer. It gives you the confidence to realize that you already knew what you were doing and you are capable but because of self-doubt working with her makes you stop question your business but rather interrogate what you can do to make it happen
I’m able to set goals for my business and achieve them. I’ve learned how to prioritize or re-prioritize.
She is not just a coach but a friend. Sometimes personal / family gets mixed with the business when you are an entrepreneur. And sometimes you need a coach who can listen to both and help you prioritize without making you feel lacking in some way.
If you want your food business to not fall victim to the statistics of businesses that fail in the first two years then Emily is your person. I wish I could duplicate her and have her in the Eastern Cape.

La Vie en Rose
Emily has a unique combination of skills, that few consultants and coaches possess; she has the ability to be creative & colorful, bringing your menu to life, while at the same time being system-driven, result-orientated, and focused on making a profit.
We benefited from the advice from an external point of view, from someone who is looking at your business with fresh eyes. She brought experience from many other food businesses that Emily has worked in saving us time.
Emily has an immense amount of creativity and knowledge and can help cut costs, better productivity, and increase profitability. Emily is just a joy to work with, she is warm and caring and will treat your business as if it were her own. She is also very good with the staff, developing them through the training but also giving them more accountability to their roles, and in essence your business.

Tutto Food Co.
Emily has worked with us for the last few months on a retainer basis as a consultant and coach.
She has helped us so much more than we ever imagined possible – “above and beyond” just skims the surface. Her approach is hands-on and methodical, providing insight into the smallest details of running a food business alongside much-needed high-level strategic support.
Em is receptive not only to the explicit needs of her clients but also to underlying psychological and emotional changes that are bound to arise due to her involvement in your business. She told us on day one that she was generous with her time and has kept true to this on many occasions being a task, rather than time-oriented. We love having Em as part of our team and will definitely keep the relationship going through upcoming projects.

It has been my pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with Emily Dyer-Schiefer for a year. Emily has the unique ability to coordinate teams to objectively achieve goals in scheduling large teams for training and creating comprehensive systems with materials for implementation for both frontline personnel and management. Under high-intensity situations, Emily excels by being the calm in the storm. Emily achieves this through her many years of experience and her innate ability to motivate, educate and communicate either in one on one personal interaction or through large groups containing multiple personalities. Emily brings a huge amount of experience and food knowledge to the table; she is also very up-to-date with trends and what appeals to the relevant market. She’s also a brilliant recipe writer herself and is meticulous about testing properly and meeting deadlines (as well as delivering great recipes). Emily is without a doubt the leading authority in her field. S. Bester, Brahman Hills |
The Windmills
Emily was brought into my business in July 2018.
We had challenges regarding the direction of the restaurant concept, food quality, service standards, and an effect on spending and gross profit. Operationally the business was over-engineered, with many outdated and unnecessary procedures. Our staff was unsure of what to do. Menu items were complicated which resulted in mediocre quality and long wait times.
Emily was brought on to rescue and guide us by defining the strategic path of the business. She first reworked the business concept, streamlining it and tailoring it to the target market. A plan was built for the new direction of the business. Over a period of 4 months, we launched new menus, a redesigned operational flow, and upgraded interiors all under her watchful and analytical eye.
Emily spent time creating staff training programs and procedures. She worked with us on menu and product costing, considering the specific needs of this business. The menu was reworked, and standardized, with a focus on consistency, great quality, and low waiting times.
The result was 35% growth over 6 months, increase in Gross Profit by approx. 30% and a reduction in expenses by about 25%.
Emily’s passion and attention to detail were the breath of fresh air we needed in our business. I found her to be highly effective and methodical, with exceptional attention to detail. Emily works wonderfully with the staff, dealing with them on a level that manages to bridge professionalism and warmth. She takes time to understand the specific needs of the business, and create the solutions we need.
Going forward we are retaining Emily’s services on an ad-hoc monthly basis to up-held the high standards she has set.

ONO
Emily came on board with ONO Eatery towards the end of 2017. She arrived at a time when ONO was only 4 months old.
She helped implement and streamline processes where there were none. She helped create employee procedures that assisted in making staff more efficient and productive.
Emily proved to be a great sounding board for idea implementation and an even better source of knowledge, wisdom, and experience when it comes to anything in the kitchen or front of house.
I never hesitate to call her about anything and very much look forward to anytime that we have to work together.
